Senior girls basketball captain Adriana Agosto Flecha reached 1,000 points in Tuesday night’s close game against the Westampton Tech Panthers. Reaching the end of her high school basketball career, Agosto has scored 447 points this season alone, averaging approximately 18 points every time she steps on the court.

In her freshmen year, Agosto demonstrated immense potential and unique ability on the court earning a total of 150 points and surpassing 200 points in both sophomore and junior years.

When asked to describe the significance of her accomplishment, Agosto stated that reaching 1000 points has been a goal she has strived to achieve since her junior year and has fought for since her first day stepping on the basketball court as a freshman.

Throughout her high school basketball career, she noted that she made sure to surround herself with “talented girls that have also had to privilege to get their name on the banner [who] made me work harder.”

In last night’s game, the Lady Devils led in the first quarter but trailed slightly behind during the remaining duration of the game. However, assisted by Agosto’s 21 points, composed of four-two-pointers, two three-pointers, and seven free throws, the girls were victorious and ended the game 60 to 59.

“Once I saw the ball go through the net, I just broke down in tears of happiness, finally knowing that I did it after all the sweat, blood, tears, and doubts,” Agosto said. “It felt amazing.”

In addition to support from her teammates, showering her with love and a pile of hugs, Agosto said, “having my family there [to see] me surpass this milestone just made it feel a hundred times better.”

Now part of an elite group of athletes who have surpassed this milestone, Adriana Agosto Flecha will forever have a legacy at Rancocas Valley for other young aspiring athletes to strive for.

As high school athletic careers must come to an end, Agosto continues to pursue her passion for basketball and has officially committed to Alvernia University.

“I’m going to spend the next four years doing the same thing I’m doing now, just on a bigger stage and bigger court,” she said.
