Former President Donald Trump defeated challenger Nikki Haley in the New Hampshire Primary by 11 percentage points on Tuesday, Jan 23.
Trump then went on to defeat Haley in Nevada last night — without event being on the ballot.
His recent victories makes a rematch between him and President Joe Biden seem inevitable. New Hampshire was seen as the last hope by the Haley campaign, who now sets her sights on South Carolina.
“Let’s not have somebody take a victory when she had a very bad night,” said Trump. “She had a very bad night.”
The American public is unhappy with a Trump-Biden rematch. According to an AP-NORC poll, most Americans are dissatisfied with Biden and Trump winning their respective party nominees. Age is a major concern among both candidates.
“Biden and Trump, they are way too old to come in and be President, especially Biden,” said senior Phlip Enriquez.
Haley polled slightly better than in head-to-head Emerson College polling against President Biden. Despite arguably being more electable than Trump, Students at Rancocas Valley are skeptical Haley can break his iron-grip on the Republican Party.
“I feel like [Haley] is a good candidate, but I feel like the popularity of Trump and the conservative loyalism to him will overpower that,” said junior Thomas Fredericksen.
Yesterday, even though Trump was not even on the ballot in Nevada, Haley still lost to “none of these candidates,” an option for Republican voters, who chose no one rather than choosing Haley.
Despite losing New Hampshire by a large margin, Haley is still optimistic about winning the nomination and South Carolina; the next state primary and her home state.
“New Hampshire is first in the nation; it is not last in the nation,” said Haley at the New Hampshire concession speech. “This race is far from over. There are dozens of states left to go. And the next one is my sweet state of South Carolina.”

Haley remains optimistic as many Trump supporters have swallowed the
cool aid. I’m worried about this country for my children and grandchildren. Let’s hope sanity prevails.
