Junior prom has intrigued students for many years, but the price of tickets continues to rise, effecting interest in the event. With the continuous increase of prices for formal wear, beauty services and tickets, students may face difficulties in terms of maintaining a reasonable budget.
As the cost of living continues to rise due to inflation, prom tickets increase as well. Organizers face higher expenses for venues, catering services, decorations, and other components. The increased costs to organize prom ultimately result in increased ticket prices.
Mrs. Rosenthal, one of the organizers of the Junior Prom explains the cost of tickets.
“The price increase was $5. I try to keep the ticket prices as low as I can, but increases in the cost of the venue, food, decor, DJ, etc. go up each year so we need to alter the price because of that,” she said.
The rising prices of beauty services and formal wear may present challenges for students and families preparing for prom. Also, prices of formal wear increase as production costs rise including the costs of materials, labor and transportation, passing the financial burden to consumers.
The increased price of prom has led to a decrease in interest among students, due to the possible financial strain ticket prices may bring about.
“Personally, I was able to afford them, however I can tell that a lot of my friends wouldn’t have been able to, however, I do think it should go down just a little bit,” said junior Josephine Dragon
Although raised ticket prices may cause concern for students and parents, it is a necessary adjustment to ensure that prom remains a memorable occasion for students who attend.
