Landon Finsen is not just your average golf player, but the top in the state of NJ and ranked nationally. He excels at such a young age and has a promising future with the amount of success he already has at 17 years old.

While Landon has been playing golf for only around 5 years, he became interested because of his dad. Landon started watching his dad play golf and saw how much he enjoyed it, and wanted to try it for himself. He would balance golf with his daily life and have an immense amount of fun.  Ever since then, he has never looked back and is always looking for improvement.

While Landon does golf for the school, he also does it on his own time and trains with the help of his personal coach. Landon is a phenomenal golfer as he is currently the #1 golf player in Burlington County, 45th in the State, and 2888th in the US. Golf is very important to him as “I want to be a consistent scorer for my team and put myself in a position to compete at a higher level,” Landon says.

Landon faces challenges of competition that have been playing for longer, but also tries to balance school, work, and daily workouts. Time management is important, but it makes it tough to take on different things. While also being challenging to himself, after a bad tournament or bad round when he doesn’t play to his best ability, he possibly becomes frustrated.

Furthermore, “His swing was very good at a young age, and I could see how good he would be. Landon has developed into an elite golfer who is one of the best in South Jersey, if not the state,” his school team coach, Mr. Turner, said.

In the future, Landon wants to be consistent with golf and put himself in a higher position to compete at a higher level. He also wants to work with or alongside golf in some way, as Landon is very passionate about it. This could be either managing in the golf industry or using the skills and connections he has in golf for finance.

Landon is currently planning to go to college for golf and finance.
